After ditching the prayer several years ago, Maple Ridge council is also about to remove its moment of reflection, which preceded regular meetings on Tuesday evenings.
A staff report from the April 20 committee meeting notes that individual reports by councillors, which often dragged out the end of evening meetings, are also going to be removed from the regular agenda.
While the appropriate bylaw is being changed, the moment of reflection will be dropped.

Council will vote on the issue at a future meeting.
The Supreme Court of Canada decided in April that prayers cannot be said before municipal council meetings.
Maple Ridge adopted the moment of reflection, which could be a blessing, prayer of thought, after eliminating the prayer from its regular meeting in 2010.
In 2010, no other Lower Mainland municipality started its meetings with prayers.
