A North Vancouver man landed his plane safely in a field near Pitt Meadows airport Saturday after experiencing engine trouble.
The 58-year-old was not injured.
He was planning to land at Pitt Meadows airport, but forced to make an emergency landing nearby.
Police said the plane was not damaged.
Transport Canada is investigating.
Stolen truck found
A pickup truck stolen from a parking lot at the Albion Fairgrounds on Saturday has been found.
The teal green 1992 Mazda was located Monday on Creekside Street and was most likely taken for a joy ride.
Vern Tamke spent an hour listening to music at Country Fest Saturday and returned around 10:30 p.m. to find his truck missing. He says he was shocked someone stole the truck while it was parked in a busy lot, patrolled by volunteers.
Ridge Meadows RCMP said vehicles manufactured in the 1990s are prime targets for car thieves because they don’t have immobilizers or alarms.
They recommend owners protect their vehicles with a steering wheel lock or an electronic device that disables the engine.
Road blocks, boat checks
Fifteen drunk drivers were taken off the roads this weekend by Ridge Meadows RCMP.
The drivers were pulled over at several road blocks throughout the community.
In addition to 15 driving prohibitions, police gave 20 other drivers tickets for various Motor Vehicle Act infractions.
RCMP were also on Alouette Lake and Pitt Lake, conducting checks to ensure boat operators were properly licensed and had safety equipment on board.
Road blocks and police patrols on local lakes will continue throughout summer.
