While most of the Pitt Meadows Day festivities are gearing up for action in June, one item has now been removed from the schedule.
The fireworks display, which was supposed to close out the event, has now been cancelled due to the recent implementation of the fire ban for the Coastal Fire Centre.
This ban restricts category 2 and 3 fires, including fireworks, until Oct. 31 or until the order is rescinded.

Carolyn Baldridge, communications manager for the city, explained that this was a decision that was out of the control of the city and that they were sad to not be able to offer the fireworks display for their residents.
Due to today’s Coastal Fire Ban restrictions, the bad news is that the Pitt Meadows Day fireworks have been cancelled. The good news is, there are still lots of free family-friendly activities to enjoy on June 3. Details at https://t.co/DlQ7f6Kfkg or https://t.co/hjdUpMIfRn pic.twitter.com/30ulS7a8m6
