Last week, it was heavy snow, now it's heavy rain that's about to keep winter around for a while on the West Coast.

Environment Canada has issued a rainfall warning and says Tuesday morning that a strong Pacific front with energy and moisture from the subtropics will hit the south coast this evening.

Then once it gets here, it will stall all Wednesday, drenching the area with non-stop rain.

The highest rainfall is expected closer to the mountains where up to 100 millimetres could fall.

Thursday the rain is expected to ease off.

Flooding could result from the downpours. Motorists are advised to increase their following distances and turn on their headlights.
