Ridge Meadows cops check into booze thefts

Would-be customers loads up with bottles, approaches cash register then books it

Ridge Meadows RCMP are investigating a series of thefts from local B.C. Government liquor stores.

Police feel that a lone thief is responsible for several thefts of liquor from local stores, and he is suspected to be responsible for thefts of liquor in other nearby communities.

In the past two incidents, police determined that the suspect walks into the store, using a plastic carrying basket selects several bottles of various types of liquor, and proceeds to the cashier’s area at the front of the store. He then runs past the cashiers and out the exit door to the nearby parking lot and disappears. It is suspected he uses a vehicle to get away from the area.

The suspect is a white man in his late 20s or early 30s, approximately 6-3, with a stocky build, approximately 230 pounds. He has very short cropped hair, with a dark goatee. He also wears dark-framed glasses. On the last two occasions he has worn a purple button down shirt, with a T-shirt that is visible underneath, and black shorts.
