Ridge Meadows RCMP have issued an artist's sketch of a man they are seeking in connection to a possible child-luring incident in May.
The man is described as South Asian, with a red turban and a grey beard, between 50 and 60 years old. He was driving a newer model, black extended-cab pickup truck.
Police say at about 6 p.m. on May 19, the man called out to a young girl playing in the area of 228th Street and Ritchie Avenue, just behind Lougheed Highway and the McDonald's restaurant.
The man asked the girl to get into his truck, but the girl ran to a neighbour's home, where police were called.
Ridge Meadows Mounties point out that while the man didn't approach the girl or try to grab her, they still want to talk to him and find out why he called out to the girl.
They're hoping that someone might recognize the man in the sketch and call police.
Voyeurism charges laid
Charges have now been laid against a man arrested May 8 at the Pitt Meadows Family Recreation Centre.
Police say a girl saw a man enter the woman's washroom, around 4 p.m., and look at her.
Dillon Jarnail Heir, 24, is now facing a charge of voyeurism.
"Heir appeared in court last week, and has been released on strict conditions that include not being allowed to attend within a two-block radius of any recreation centre, school, playground, or community event where children under 16 years of age may be present," said Const. Amanda Harnett.
Ridge Meadows Parks and Leisure Services have also banned Heir from all rec centres and parks under the authority of the Maple Ridge and Pitt Meadows parks bylaws. The ban is until further notice.
