A large quantity of illegal drugs was seized from a house in Maple Ridge last week.
Ridge Meadows RCMP’s Street Enforcement Unit executed a search warrant at the property in the 22300 block of St. Anne Avenue, Thursday around 2 p.m.
Six people were arrested inside the house and a significant street level quantity of what is believed to be crack cocaine, methamphetamine, heroin and psilocybin, or magic mushrooms, were located and seized.
Other items associated to the sale of illegal drugs, including a large sum of money, were also seized.
“This is a substantial case regarding the distribution of illegal drugs,” said Insp. Dave Fleugel.
“Two of the people arrested are very well known to Ridge Meadows RCMP. We are still putting together the details that will be presented to the courts in the near future.”
Fleeing driver
A 28-year-old woman was arrested Friday in Pitt Meadows after she crashed a pickup truck while trying to escape from police.
A police officer spotted the pickup truck on 124 Avenue near Harris Road around 9:15 p.m.
When the officer turned on his lights and siren, the driver accelerated, then lost control of the truck and hit a cement planter box.
The driver was arrested.
Police also seized a quantity of what they believe is crystal methamphetamine.
The woman was held in custody for a first court appearance on Monday.
Police are recommending charges of dangerous driving, drug possession and obstructing a peace officer.
More drunk drivers
Six impaired drivers were taken off the roads this past weekend.
All of them received immediate, 90-day driving prohibitions and had their vehicles impounded for 30 days.
A 21-year-old Pitt Meadows woman was stopped just after 2 a.m. Saturday in the parking lot of the Meadow Vale shopping mall in Pitt Meadows. She provided breath samples into two roadside screening devices, and both produced ‘fail’ readings.
On Sunday, three more drivers were caught for drinking drunk. A 20-year-old Langley man, and a 19-year-old Maple Ridge man both blew ‘fail’ readings, while a 27-year-old Surrey man refused to provide samples of his breath.
On Monday, an 18-year-old Maple Ridge man and a 21-year-old Pitt Meadows man also received suspensions.
