This year's Strip-a-thon at the Caddy Shack Show Lounge raised a record $37,700 for the Maple Ridge-Pitt Meadows Christmas Hamper Society.
"They're great big Santas," said society co-chair Lorraine Bates. "Yvan Charette did an awesome job of marketing the event."
She said that amount will pay the entire food bill – providing all of the hamper families with Christmas dinner. There were 543 registered households last year.
"This is a completely humbling experience to be a part of," said Charette, owner of the Caddyshack.
"To all our patrons: Wow, you are so very giving. This doesn't happen without you. My many thanks."
It was the 22nd year of the Strip-a-thon. Last year it set a then-record of $26,670. There are silent auctions, 50/50 draws, and a bra auction that sees lingerie sold for thousands of dollars.
The staff and performers donate their day's wages and tips for the fundraiser, which is the biggest single source of annual income for the Christmas Hamper Society.
