A teenage girl died in a crash on the Haney Bypass last May.

A 17-year-old Maple Ridge boy has been charged with dangerous driving causing death following a crash last year on Mother's Day.

The collision, on the Haney Bypass at Callaghan Avenue, claimed the life of a 15-year-old female passenger.

A Volkswagen car collided with a Toyota SUV at approximately 12:40 p.m. on Sunday, May 10, 2015.

The female was the lone passenger in his car and died in the crash.

Three other people, including the accused, then 16, were treated at hospital for injuries.

“This comprehensive investigation has been ongoing since its occurrence, and has taken months to get to this point,” said Cpl. Brenda Winpenny.

“With the assistance of the Integrated Collision Analyst and Reconstructionist Services, the investigation is complete and is now before the courts. As a result, police will not comment on the details of the case.  However, we hope these charges will help the family with closure regarding the young teen’s death.”

The accused has been summonsed to attend youth court to answer to the criminal charges.
