Thieves charged up on RV batteries

Ridge Meadows RCMP want to advise owners of recreational vehicles, boats, trailers and motor homes to safeguard their batteries.

After a rash of thefts, Ridge Meadows RCMP want to advise owners of recreational vehicles, boats, trailers and motor homes to safeguard their batteries.

“Ridge Meadows RCMP have noted a number of RV batteries being reported stolen over the last month, many from recreation vehicles parked in owner’s driveways,” said Cpl. Alanna Dunlop.

“Police have not been able to identify the suspects yet and/or determine the location and use of the stolen batteries.

She said the RCMP wants owners to take the necessary precautions, and when winterizing their boats, trailers or motor homes to remove the battery and store it in a safe location.

“It’s always a good idea to remove the propane tanks as well, as long as they can be stored safely and securely away from the unit.  In these cases an ounce of prevention can be the cure,” said Dunlop.

If anyone observes a person acting suspicious in their neighbourhood, please contact Ridge Meadows RCMP at 604-463-6251.
