A 32-year-old woman faces assault charges for hitting a manager at a Maple Ridge Tim Hortons.
Around 9 a.m. Saturday, the manager noticed the woman had been the ladies’ washroom for some time.
Police said the manager ensured the woman was OK and asked her to leave.
The woman allegedly struck the manager twice before she left the restaurant. Police were called and found the woman a few blocks away.
The woman was arrested but released with a court date set for June.
Take a bus
A 42-year-old man was arrested by police early Friday after he got into a fight with another man in Maple Ridge.
Police said the Abbotsford resident approached a man who was working in his garage around 8:30 a.m. and demanded a ride.
During the conversation, Mounties allege the suspect threatened the Maple Ridge resident and the confrontation escalated. It ended with the suspect striking the victim.
A police dog assisted in locating the suspect a short distance away where he was arrested.
He was remanded in custody for court on Tuesday.
Boat theft
Ridge Meadows RCMP are looking for a five-metre Lund aluminum boat stolen over the weekend in Maple Ridge.
The boat was on a black, home-made trailer with B.C. license plate UDD-90Y.
It was stolen sometime between Friday and Saturday from a house on Melville Street. A padlock securing the boat was cut by the thieves.
Drug trafficking
A man and woman who drove through a traffic stop on Thursday with a truck full of marijuana face trafficking charges.
Ridge Meadows RCMP stopped the pair around 4 p.m. during a speed check.
Insp. Derren Lench said two officers on scene immediately detected a strong odour of the marijuana and the pickup truck was pulled over. Police seized more than 23 kilograms of freshly-cut marijuana plants from the truck.
A 51-year-old Pitt Meadows man and a 37-year-old Maple Ridge woman were arrested and released on a promise to appear in court. Police are recommending the pair be charged with trafficking in a controlled substance.
Car impounded
Ridge Meadows RCMP are recommending charges of driving while prohibited against a 31-year-old Maple Ridge man.
The man was stopped by police just before 1 p.m. Thursday while driving a friend’s car on 119th Avenue.
A check with the Motor Vehicle Branch showed his driving privileges were suspended. His friend’s vehicle was impounded for seven days as a result.
Meth seized
Two people were arrested Wednesday, April 20 after police executed search warrant at a Maple Ridge home.
Police entered the house on Dunbar Street around 3:45 p.m. and seized a quantity of methamphetamine as well as other items associated to the sale of meth. An illegally stored firearm was also seized by police. A 62-year-old man and 50-year-old woman were arrested but released from custody after the search.
Police said charges against the pair are likely.
Bike stolen
Ridge Meadows RCMP are looking for an expensive mountain bicycle brazenly stolen from an open garage last week in Maple Ridge.
The dark green Norco bike with front and rear suspension was taken around 9:45 a.m. Tuesday, April 19 from a house on Cherrington Avenue.
The seat has a green and black camouflage design on it. The bike’s estimated value is $4,000.
Dozing driver
A man who crashed his car into a tree Tuesday, April 19 in Maple Ridge faces a charge of driving without due care and attention.
Police said the 52-year-old fell asleep while driving a Ford Van on Fern Crescent near 132nd Avenue around 1:20 a.m.
He woke up just before the vehicle hit a tree and rolled on to its side.
The man was not injured, but the van was badly damaged.
Boat stolen
A seven-metre-long boat on a trailer was stolen last week during a break-and-enter in Maple Ridge.
Thieves cut a lock on a gate to the business on Fisherman’s Wharf sometime between Friday, April 15 and Monday April 18.
The boat was a 2001 teal and white Malibu with a 350-horsepower inboard motor. It was on a black, home-made trailer with British Columbia plates UPH-45L.
Drug charges
A 19-year-old man who dodged Mounties last month after bags of marijuana were found in his car has turned himself in to police.
The man was stopped by Ridge Meadows RCMP on March 31 while driving on 124th Avenue. Police said he ran off but officers found several bags of marijuana and other items associated to the drug trade in his car.
The man turned himself in at the RCMP detachment on Monday, April 18.
