Vehicle fires overnight in Maple Ridge

Two reported in the early hours

Two vehicle fires were reported in Maple Ridge early Monday, one on 232nd Street and the other on 220th Street.

Maple Ridge Fire and Rescue Service Chief Howard Exner said firefighters responded to a Volkswagen fire on 232nd Street and 114th Avenue at 12:46 a.m.

There were no injuries.

Then at 1:11 a.m., firefighters responded to a Ford SUV on fire at 220th Street and 119th Avenue. That caused heat damage to two other vehicles nearby, Exner added. There were no injuries.

Ridge Meadows RCMP Const. Julie Klaussner said that police attended both scenes and at present, there’s no information to say that the two are linked.
