November 12, 1954 - September 30, 2020
Born Nov 12th, 1954 in Victoria, BC., passed away Sept 30th, 2020 in Maple Ridge, BC. His passing came as a premature wrenching away.
He grew up on Vancouver Island before moving to Haney in 1969.
Al's wicked sense of humour made us laugh, often to the point of tears. A good youth athlete, he played baseball, basketball and soccer. He was a very, very good (and crazy) men's soccer goalie. He liked to curl as well, but he'd choose fishing above all other sports.
Al's best buddyJay and he spent a lot of time in a boat, lines in the water. He'd fish then give a lot of them away. He'd cook perogies for himself and for others, and was happy to invite the neighbours in for a chat and a beer. Al could very often be seen sitting out on his balcony having a smoke, thinking about things.
Al is survived by and will be missed by, among others, his brother Wilf, sister-in-law Elaine, niece Tristen, nephew Scott, former wife Jennifer, friends Jay and Brent, neighbour and friend Shelley. Al is predeceased by his mom Pauline Payne (nee Herman) and dad Clif Payne.
