Angel Ortega of Maple Ridge, BC, passed away on Friday, July 9, 2021, at the age of 83 at Ridge Meadows Hospital.
Angel was born in La Union, Murcia, Spain on July 16, 1937 to father Joaquin and mother Genoveva.
Angel was the fifth of eight siblings, struggling for survival in a war-stricken Badalona (Barcelona) during the Spanish Civil War.
As soon as he was able to leave Spain, Angel went to work in France and later in Germany. It was from there that he immigrated to Canada in 1956. He settled in Vancouver and eventually in Maple Ridge in 1980 where he spent the rest of his years with his wife and two children.
Angel is survived by his wife Angelina; children Alex and Carmen (Philip); grandson Pau; and siblings Antonio, Nicanor (Encarna), Carmen (Jose), and Sole (Francisco).
No service will be held as per Angel's wishes.
