Austen Stanley (Barney) Knapp
Born: April 7,1921 - Died: January 15, 2005. Austen (Barney) served in the army during the second war returning to Vancouver with his warbride Mary Rae
deceased). He worked many years on the BC Hydro Bus lines and retired as a BCAA driver in 1985 and then settled in Maple Ridge with his current wife Nahad Helmy. He is also survived by his sister Gwen from Quebec, his son Stan from Ontario, grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, godchildren and many friends at George Derby, where he spent the last 4 years living with Alzheimer's. A 35 year member of the Legion Local #177 Vancouver and a long time member of the Masons Park Lodge Hall of Vancouver. A Memorial Remembrance will be held on April 7, 2005 at George Derby Centre 7550 Cumberland St. Burnaby, B.C. @10:30am - refreshments to follow. Donations to Upper South Improvements at the Centre would be appreciated. The family wishes to express their gratitude to the wonderful staff at George Derby Centre for their gentle loving care. You are the angels to those who need you most. Austen (Barney) was a kind and gentle spirit who will be remembered by all he touched. He loved to laugh and always called the favorite women in his life "sweetheart". A giant story teller keeping the staff at the center amused with hours of humorous excerpts of his life experiences.
He will be greatly missed.
