April 29, 2022
It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of our brother Barry William Franklin at the age of 72. Barry passed away on April 29, 2022 after a lengthy battle with numerous health problems.
He lost his wife Terry to cancer only last year. He is also predeceased by his father William, his mother Roberta and his younger brother Tim.
Barry grew up and attended school in Maple Ridge. He loved racing cars at Mission Raceway and playing Slo Pitch where he met so many of his friends.
He started his career working for his Dad at Regal Building supplies. He worked many jobs when he was younger but then began his career working for BC Hydro as a Lineman. He moved to St. Louis more than 30 years ago to continue his career as a Lineman and Supervisor. He then moved to Florida where he retired. He loved golfing with his buddies and boating in the Florida Keys.
Barry and Terry were big animal lovers, rescuing dogs, cats and even turtles.
Barry is survived by his son Chad, his brothers Russ (Cherie), Bill (Leslie), his nieces Jennifer, Michelle, and Collette and his nephew Jason as well as many great nieces and nephews.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Maple Ridge SPCA http://spca.bc.ca/locations/maple-ridge. There will be no service by request.
