In Loving Memory ~
Beverly June Bates (nee Adams), born April 6, 1932, daughter of Herbert and Viola Adams, a cherished mother, and a much-loved friend and relative, passed away February 13, 2024. She was 91 years old.
She is survived by her four children Donald (wife Pat), Nancy, Michael, and Barbara and her 5 grandchildren and her 7 great-grandchildren. Bev is also survived by her brother Walter (wife Marilyn; son Craig).
Bev loved her family profoundly and felt being a loving wife and mother was her greatest calling in life, which is why she and her late husband Edward chose to adopt their 4 children. She hated injustice and always strived to be a kind, gentle human, making her loved by everyone she met.
She was funny, intelligent, and compassionate and made a difference in so many people's lives and their gardens.
The family would like to express their sincere gratitude to Dr. John D. Shepherd for helping Bev beat Leukemia in 1992 and giving her family over 30 additional years with her. We would also like to extend a special thank you to the exceptional staff and volunteers at Christine Morrison Hospice, Mission, BC for their kindness and guidance.
Bev donated regularly to a variety of charities. Among one of her favourites was Katie's Place, a cat rescue located in Maple Ridge, BC. She brought many of Katie's senior kitties' home to live a happy life.
In lieu of flowers, donations in her honour may be made directly to Katie's Place 10255 Jackson Road, Maple Ridge, BC V2W 1G5, Canada. (www.katiesplaceshelter.com)
