It is with heavy hearts and profound sadness her family announces that Carmen Wendy Lancaster passed away October 22, 2019 after a long and courageous battle with cancer. Carmen was born December,1953 in Kimberley, B.C. to Henry and Eva Wik. A treasured wife, mother, nanna, sister, and friend. She brought unconditional love and light into the lives of everyone who knew her. Carmen lived with purpose, passion and faith. She embraced life and made the best of everything it offered. Many who know her described her as the strongest and most courageous person they had ever met. She was a tower of wisdom and profound strength who spread love in abundance. Her hands were rarely still, always seeking to help and serve those around her. Her family adored her more than words could ever describe and her friends admired her for the richness of her life that she freely shared with them. Carmen brought immense joy and happiness into the lives of many and her legacy and influence will truly continue to live on in those who love her. Carmen was also a tireless and dedicated teacher who valued every student she taught. She was a remarkable person who changed countless lives.
Carmen is survived by her loving husband of 43 years, Ronald Edward Lancaster, two sons, Joel Gordon Lancaster and his wife Jody, Mark Edward Lancaster and his wife Catherine, daughter Cara Christine Lancaster (Stagg) and her husband Josh. She is also survived by six granddaughters: Maia, Kyla, Taylor, Hailey, Ruby and Emma with two more grandchildren due to arrive in November. Carmen is predeceased by her father Henry and survived by her mother Eva. Carmen has six siblings: Dale Smith, husband Del, Don Wik, wife Brenda, Pamella Wik, Doug Wik, wife Heather, Lise Lavender, husband Bill, Corinne Jarrett, and husband Troy. She is also loved by her many nieces and nephews.
A service celebrating her life will be held on Saturday, November 2, 2019, at 2 pm at Christian Life Assembly church, 11756 232 St, Maple Ridge, BC.
