POLZ ~ Dixie
Dixie Polz passed away peacefully March 23rd after a short but intense battle with cancer at the all too early age of 63. She leaves to mourn her husband of 43 years Martin, daughter Tonya (Joe Kahlert), and her grandchildren Alexis, John Paul and Miranda as well as many extended family and good friends.
Dixie (Bereeithe Anne) Watkins was born in Sherridon Manitoba April 2nd, 1942. An only child, she moved with her extended family to the hill in Maple Ridge at the age of 4 and remained there living with and caring for her loved ones until her untimely passing. She was predeceased by her dad George in 1991 and her mom Shirley less than one year ago.
Dixie was very active in the community, starting from childhood, with the Albion Ladies Club and the Albion Community Club. She was an active school mom who participated in every hot dog day and field trip. For the last 20 years she was a pillar of her parish community at St. Patrick’s Church, where she tended flowers daily and decorated the church for special occasions. She spent many hours catering and organizing events with the Catholic Women’s League.
Prayers will be held Tuesday March 28th at 7:30pm followed by the Funeral Mass Wednesday March 29th at 10:30am all at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church with her nephew Rev. R. Polz, and Rev. F. Landry, Rev. D. Hughes, Rev. T. Nicholson and Rev. R. Au concelebrating. In lieu of flowers donations to the Ridge Meadows Hospice Society or St. Patrick’s Parish in memory of Dixie would be appreciated.
