July 13, 1943 - May 11, 2024

Known for the mischievous twinkle in his blue eyes and his delight in finding humour, Don thoroughly enjoyed life. His pastimes included music, dancing, fishing, gardening and being the best Mr. Fix-it. He loved travelling; adventuring as far as Nepal, India, Egypt, Kenya, Europe, not to mention the annual RV trips with friends to Mexico. Maple Ridge became home.

Don taught in Chilliwack, BC (as a teacher/bus driver), as well as New Westminster and Maple Ridge (Outdoor School/Librarian). As an administrator, (in New Westminster & Maple Ridge) he worked in various schools and communities. He admired the role of teacher, researcher and all those in education. His students always enjoyed their time with him.

Don loved his family including sons J. Gregory and pre-deceased son, Bruce, and his grandsons Sean and Tyler. With his loving wife, Judy (nee Gibson) he had a son, Matthew R. F. Conroy and grandsons (with Malika) Finlay and Cohen, as well as his daughter, Colleen E. S. Conroy (partner Jake Schramm). Born in Kimberley, East Kooteneys, he has five siblings: Donna Carter (Bill), Mike Conroy, Brian Conroy (Bev), Debbie Ingham (Rodger), Marianne Conroy and their extended families. All brought him so much joy.

He will be extremely missed but always remembered and celebrated with so much love. Don passed with the May 2024 Northern Lights, saying both hello and goodbye in the sky.

His family would like to thank the staff of George Derby, Holyrood, and Ridge Meadows Hospital for taking such good care of him. As per Don's wishes, a service will not be held. If he positively touched your life, you can pass it on by a donation to the above mentioned facilities or to the School District #42 Suddaby Scholarship.
