It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Donald Richardson on November 17th, 2022. Don was born on April 25th, 1931 to Arthur and Kathleen in Simcoe, Ontario. He later moved to the BC Lower Mainland and lived every moment of his 91 plus years with a purpose and a zest for life.
He passed away peacefully after a brief stay at McKenney Creek Hospice in Maple Ridge.
Don is survived by his children Ken (Barb Cowl), Linda Nokes (Bill), Jane Ferreira (Russell Au), Lori Huberman (David), 16 grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren. Don was predeceased by his wife Mary and son Douglas.
Donald will be remembered for his commitment to his family, and having been an active board member of various charities, for his artistic endeavours as a professional magician, an artist, a sculptor, a painter, a builder of model boats and airplanes, a photographer and filmmaker. In addition to being an avid fisherman and travelling extensively, his hobbies included bowling, snooker, darts and playing the banjo. In his younger years he was a figure skater and said Barbara Ann Scott was his favorite skating partner.
Don's professional career, in addition to being an entrepreneur, encompassed being a plant manager for the American Can Company of Canada and providing services in safety and building management to the Province of British Columbia.
The family would like to thank the medical staff at Ridge Meadows Hospital and the McKenney Creek Hospice for the care and comfort Don received.
A service will be held 11 am on December 10th at First Memorial Burkeview Chapel, 1340 Dominion Ave., Port Coquitlam.
In lieu of flowers the family requests that donations be made to BC Cancer Foundation in memory of Donald Peter Richardson.
