VERMEULEN - Frank Lodewyck born in Antwerp, Belgium on July 1, 1926; died July 5, 2011 at the age of 85. Frank immigrated to Calgary in 1951, where he met and married Johanna. They moved to Vancouver (1953), Port Coquitlam (1981), Pitt Meadows (1995). He was a journeyman cabinetmaker switching to locksmithing in his later working years. He was very proud of his Flemish heritage and of being a Canadian. His family remembers him for his sarcastic wit, hard work ethic, and his love of animals and music. Predeceased by his parents, all his siblings and last year his wife.
Survived by children Francina (Tom) Carr + John Vermeulen; grandchildren John Roberts, Nathan & Dan Vermeulen, and Dawn (Graham) Browne; 7 great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Luke’s Roman Catholic Church (20285 Dewdney Trunk Road, Maple Ridge) on Tuesday, July 12, at 11:00 AM; Rev. Fr. Amador Abundo celebrant.
