It is with sadness that our family announces the passing of Steve in Maple Ridge. Predeceased by parents Jack and Marion (Turner). Steve will be missed by his wife of 53 years Sue, his children Leslie and Alex, daughter-in-law Marnie and grandchildren Turner, Anni, Xander and Emmie, brother Peter, sister-in-law Diane, niece Wendy and nephew Brent.
Born in Vancouver, Steve attended UBC and taught high school sciences in Coquitlam for 33 years. He was a skilled woodworker and enjoyed travelling, reading, lawn bowling, silk screening and gardening. He built and sailed boats, both big and small and collected rock specimens. He was a member of the Maple Ridge Lapidary Club, The Vancouver Model Boat Club and the Maple Ridge Historical Society as well as a volunteer with First Haney Scouts, Haney Farmers Market and Golden Ears United Church. He also ran a movie theatre for a few years.
Steve loved his family and will be remembered for his gentle nature and sense of humour.
Special thanks to Maple Ridge Seniors Village and Dr. Milewski for their care. A private family gathering is planned. Consider donating to the Alzheimers Society. Leave condolences at mapleridgefuneral.ca.
