Gillian O'Rourke passed away peacefully on April 17 at the age of 85, held close by family and friends in a room filled with music, stories, and love.

Born in Lincoln, England, Gill was the oldest of nine siblings and worked from a young age at the family fish & chip shop. She met her husband Patrick at a dance and they hitchhiked around Europe. They brought their three children to Canada where their youngest son was born.

Moving from East Vancouver to an acreage in Maple Ridge, Gill's passion for organic gardening flourished. The bohemian couple performed folk music at many venues; as singer/guitarist, Gill wrote songs of peace and love. She provided music therapy for people with special needs and became a Waldorf teacher.

As a peace activist, she participated in many demonstrations and peace walks, and was highly involved in community events, performing music and puppet shows. She loved outings to the beach and hosting family gatherings. A natural healer, she used herbs, reiki and positive affirmations.

Gill suffered a stroke during an operation which greatly impacted her life, yet remained ever gentle, caring and kind. She and Patrick shared a full and wonderful life.

Gillian is dearly loved and remembered by her four children, Patrick, Frances, Christopher and Alan, six grandchildren and three great grandchildren.

Her legacy will live long in all of their hearts.

God Bless You. Peace.
