KISSOCK

James Douglas (Doug)

It is with extreme sadness that we announce the sudden passing of Doug Kissock, husband, father, father-in-law, grandfather, and friend to many on Thursday, January 22nd, 2009. Doug was born in Camrose, Alberta in 1933. At the age of 18, he joined the Royal Canadian Airforce, serving in Canada as well as Germany with the U.N. Doug worked many years for Greyhound as a driver, supervisor and then depot operator. Following his career with Greyhound, Doug filled his spare time driving for McKillican Coach Ltd. His greatest joy was snuggling with his grandchildren in his favourite chair. He also loved watching and playing hockey, baseball and curling. Doug shared many adventures with his wife Diane. Together, they traveled extensively, and built their dream home in Maple Ridge. Doug was an active member in the Haney Masters Curling League, the Golden Ears Chapter of the Antique Car Club, and played on the Maple Ridge Stars Senior Softball team. He had a wide variety of interests from gardening to restoring collector vehicles. He had a pilot's license and at one time, owned a Cessna 150. Doug had an amazing knowledge of the history of wars, as well as trains, planes and automobiles. Doug was predeceased by his son, Randy, and brother, John. He is survived by his wife, Diane, children Lorne (wife Paola), Suzanne (husband Jason), Clint (wife Stephanie), and Tamara (husband Darren), and grandchildren, Kayla, Jacob, Alexa, Olivia, Samantha, Colton, Esteel, Tanesha, & Shaqala. He is also survived by his brother Mike. Doug was a kind, gentle and giving spirit who will be missed by many, especially by his family. A celebration of Doug's life will be held on Monday, February 2nd, 2009 at the Golden Ears Winter Club - 23580 105 Avenue, Maple Ridge, at 1:00 p.m. Refreshments will be served. In lieu of flowers, donations to The B.C. Cancer Foundation or Canuck Place Children's Hospice would be appreciated.
