Janet Collette

Janet was born in New Brunswick on May 7, 1934 and passed away in Maple Ridge on February 11, 2009. She is predeceased by her husbands, Alban Collette and Ed White. She will lovingly be remembered by her three daughters, Doreen Irwin of Maple Ridge, Theresa McGillivray of Maple Ridge, Jackie Collette (Paul) of 100 Mile House and her two sons, Eddie White of Maple Ridge and Keith White (Melanie) of Gibsons. She will also be missed by her ten grandchildren and two great grandchildren, also her three brothers and three sisters from New Brunswick and Ontario, Freddy (Diane), Arnold (Mable), Malcolm (Jan), Stella (Junior), Hazel (Tony), Sharon (Tim). Janet grew up in New Brunswick. She was quite a tom boy and loved her horses and all animals. She married her first husband Alban and had three daughters. They moved to Ontario in 1965 and worked in the tobacco industry. They eventually separated and she met Ed, whom she had two sons with. They ended up moving to B.C. in 1977. She loved it out here with all the mountains. Her most enjoyable times would have been when they lived out at Pitt Lake. She had some good times there. Her life wasn’t always easy. There were rough spells but she got through them. She loved her family and friends very much. She loved to garden and plant flowers and she loved her dogs, Coco, Max and Buddy. The last few years she was into birds and fish. She now has five birds and was planning on getting another one. She was very much a people and animal person and she will be greatly missed by everyone who knew her. A Celebration of her life will be held on Saturday, February 21st at 2:00 pm at the MAPLE RIDGE FUNERAL CHAPEL (Osborn’s), 11969-216th Street, Maple Ridge, BC. In lieu of flowers donations to the SPCA would be appreciated.
