In loving memory ~

We are saddened to announce the passing of our beloved wife, mother, grandmother, aunt, and friend to many. Joy passed away peacefully on September 3 after a lengthy and bravely fought battle with cancer. Joy was born in Winnipeg and moved to Calgary in 1963. It was there that she met Dan and they were married in 1969. They moved to Vancouver, returned to Calgary for a short while, and then on to Kelowna and North Vancouver before settling into Pitt Meadows in 1976.

Joy loved living and working in Pitt Meadows and made many lifelong friends through her active involvement in the community. Many will recall her from "The General Store" in Pitt Meadows or from her years with the Municipality. She will be remembered for her welcoming smile, warm hospitality, engaging conversations, and infectious laugh.

A proud Canadian, she loved the outdoors and enjoyed many winters with family and friends in the family ski condo, summers at the cabin on Okanagan Lake, and the many many miles she walked on the dikes around town. She enjoyed travel over the years to Hawaii, Mexico, and London and spent three winters as a "snowbird" with their travel trailer on trips to California and Arizona.

Joy was predeceased by parents Bill and Gordona and brother Jim. She is survived by her husband Dan; children Chad (Larissa), Anji, Clayton (Kristie), and seven grandchildren: Makai, Leila, Chloe, Connor, Colton, Frederik and Henry. Joy was aptly named. Her family and friends will miss her constant cheer and positivity.

We, the family, would like to extend a deep gratitude to the staff of the Ridge Meadows Hospital Oncology Unit and of McKenney Creek Hospice for their wonderful care and attention.

To those with Joy in their hearts please donate to McKenney Creek Hospice in Lieu of flowers.

There will not be a funeral by request. A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, October 14th, 2023. Please send an email to joy.celebrationoflife@gmail.com to be contacted with details.
