RINGROSE, Kenneth (Ken) George

Nov. 30, 1944 – Aug. 15, 2013

It is with heavy hearts that we announce that Ken Ringrose passed away in hospital the morning of August 15, 2013 in the presence of loved ones. He was predeceased by parents Beatrice (Bea) Ringrose, RN and Richard (Dick) Ringrose of Maple Ridge (Haney). Ken is survived by his loving family: wife Maureen, daughter Andrea, son Michael (Tammy), daughter Krista (Dino), grandchildren Mackenzie, Samantha, Jadyn, Capri and Doran and granddog Stella. Ken was most recognized for his enduring pursuit of excellence in Pharmacy (UBC Faculty of Pharmaceutical Sciences, Class of 1968) in the Ridge Meadows area and his history of community service (Maple Ridge City Council Alderman, Maple Ridge School Board Trustee and Maple Ridge Parks and Recreation Board Member). Before accepting the role of Pharmacy Manager at Shoppers Drug Mart, Ken won the prestigious Bowl of Hygieia for outstanding service to the community by a Pharmacist while a Pharmasave Drug Store owner. On a lifelong quest to acquire and purvey knowledge, he continued to learn and teach even during his last days. Ken was an avid reader, lover of travel, amateur fisherman and golfer, food connoisseur, chocolate dessert aficionado and lover of music. Stories from golf trips with friends and boating with the family will be fondly remembered. Our family wishes to thank the VGH Palliative Care Unit (special thanks to nurses Ken and Leone) for the exceptional care, humour and sensitivity provided. In Ken Ringrose’s humble fashion, there will be no formal service at his request. In lieu of flowers, you may wish to contribute to the Ken Ringrose Memorial Award that will recognize outstanding community service by a University of British Columbia pharmacy student.
