Margaretta (Rita) Jean (nee Roulston)
24 December 1923 – 26 November 2016
Passed away peacefully at home in Maple Ridge surrounded by family. Rita was predeceased by her husband Archie Thompson, parents William and Margaret Roulston and siblings Sue Kee, Jack and Ernest Roulston. Born in Stranorlar, Ireland, Rita moved to Belfast to train as a nurse at the Royal Victoria Hospital. After marrying Archie they farmed on the shores of Lough Neagh, Northern Ireland before emigrating to Dawson Creek in 1975. They retired to Peachland & later Maple Ridge.
Rita will be remembered for her sense of fun, beautiful garden, love of golf and music, in particular choir directing. She is lovingly remembered, and will be forever missed by her son Peter and daughters Barbara (Philip), Maggie (Vick), and Suzanne (Ralph) and grandchildren Caila, Nikita, Sofia, Leo, Matthew and Ella.
A private memorial will be held at home on Friday, 2 December. In lieu of flowers donations can be made to the Ridge Meadows Hospice Society, Box 11, Maple Ridge, V2X 7E9.
