December 19, 1955 - February 1, 2024
We are very sad to share the news that Ray passed away at home after a 5 year battle with cancer. His family was by his side, and they witnessed his strength and determination until the very end.
Ray was born in New Westminster BC, and enjoyed an adventure-filled childhood in Whonnock, with younger brothers Bob, Brian and Rick. He attended Garibaldi High, where he joined the Outdoors Club, wrestling team, basketball team, and became a genuine REBEL.
Ray married Cathy in 1978, and they moved to Mission to raise their own family. Ray's job took him all over western Canada. He loved a big project, new challenges, and made lifelong friends with many that worked alongside him. Whether at home or on the job, Ray "worked hard and then harder still" to make the difference in whatever he took on. (He never did anything halfway.)
Ray was most at home in nature, and was a true man of the woods. He was a passionate hunter, and couldn't wait to get into the mountains each season. He also loved fishing and camping with family and friends. A warm fire, cold beer, and plenty of good food were part of every trip.
He was a humble man, who always put others before himself. Ray was our Hey Google, our protector, our Mr. Fix-It, and the calm in any storm. He was a devoted husband, a very proud dad, and the best Papa ever.
He will be loved and missed forever by his wife Cathy, his children Shannon (Rob), Tyson (Kayla), Devon (Hayley), and his grandchildren Lane, Austin, Clark, Olive, Ivy, and Breya.
Ray also leaves behind his brother Rick, and many other friends and extended family members.
Ray was grateful for all of the care that he received, and his family wishes to thank Dr. Siemens, Dr. McNeil, Mission Home Health, and all others that took care of his comfort during his illness.
There will be an open house on Sunday June 9, 2024 at the Steelhead Community Hall in Mission BC, from 2:00 pm to 5:00 pm Please drop by with your memories, stories to share, and a lawn chair, as we gather to celebrate his life. He was a great man, gone too soon. That's a fact
