It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our beloved father and grandfather Robert McKinnon Smith. He passed away peacefully on January 22, 2021,
at Ridge Meadows Hospital after a short battle with cancer. He was born in Glasgow Scotland the 2nd child to Robert and Isabella Smith.
Robert and his wife Ann (Nancy) were married for 56 years and together they raised 2 children: Paul and Kim. They emigrated to Canada in 1974 and became Canadian Citizens in 1993. Robert worked as a Machinist and after 35 years of service, he retired from Valone Kone Brunette Ltd. in 2005.
Robert was an active member of the Maple Ridge Golf Club and The Royal Canadian Legion. To his friends he was known as Wee Rab, or Robbie. He was fiercely competitive when it came to crib and often could be heard declaring he had a "Commanding Lead". Robert was well known and loved at the Legion for his happy smile and gregarious banter.
Robert is survived by his children Paul (Teresa), Kim (Murray), grandchildren, Konnor, Ayden and Taigan. Sister Margaret and numerous nieces and nephews in Canada and overseas.
Dad we all love you and will miss you!
