On Apr 29, 2018, following complications from a fall, Ross Neil Weber, born June 1, 1928 in Albion, IN, most recently of Pitt Meadows, BC, passed away peacefully with his family by his side. Dad leaves behind a very large family living far and wide.
Predeceased by his loving wife, Mary (Canic), and brothers-in-law, Pat McGaughey and George Matkovich. He leaves 7 children, Mike (Debra), Betty Ann (John), Dorothy (Glenn), Mary Ellen, Phil (Elsie), Ross Jr. (Jodi) and Keith (Heather). Also,14 grandchildren and 9 great-grandchildren. Sisters-in-law, Irene (Canic) Matkovich and Anne (Canic) McGaughey. It was very important for Dad to remain connected to all of his family on a regular basis.
Predeceased by parents Thad Weber and Anna (Sinderson).
Surviving members of Dad's US family are: siblings, Phillip Horn and John Weber, Nancy Horn, Alice (Weber) Sturgill and Rita (Weber) Hoover; 1st cousins, Nelda (Weber) Owen, Thelma (Weber) Ott, Dorothy (Friskney) Hake and Donna (Friskney) Oberlin. High school friend of 77 yrs., Phil Norris, and many Cdn and US nieces and nephews.
For over 42 yrs. commercial fishing on the west coast of BC and carpentry formed the foundation for our family. Within those yrs., Dad built 3 of our family homes.
Retirement meant golf and chess. At both he excelled. As a mentor, his uncle George Sinderson's approach to golf, established an idea, or desirable attitude in Dad's mind.
Later, instinctively, Dad knew it was time to move to an Independent care facility. It was there he met Thelma Farrell.
They shared many happy months before her passing.
A celebration of Dad's life will take place 1:30 pm on May 16th, at Meadow Gardens Golf Club, 19675 Meadow Gardens Way, Pitt Meadows, BC.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Djavad Mowafaghian Centre for Brain Health.
