All we’re asking for is for is an option

Re: Cdns immersed in death culture (Letters, June 27).

I must admit I am not quite sure what Richard Whalen is trying to say with his reference to a death culture.

The one thing that we all have in common is our finite existence here on earth.  When the time comes, most of us would like to exit this life in a peaceful, dignified manner with a minimum of pain.

For those unfortunate few who are faced with a long painful death, the loss of their faculties or gradual disintegration of their bodies, medicine can’t always help.  Shouldn’t there be the option for those of us in this predicament to end it a bit sooner if they wish? That is all we are asking.
