Create industrial near Golden Ears Bridge

Why these properties were not better utilized before Silver Valley was built boggles the mind.

Re: Silver Valley plan not working (Letters, Feb. 27).

I applaud Bruce Hobbs on his comments. His letter clearly states the facts.

We, among other property owners, have land that is already surrounded by water, sewer, Hydro and gas services. We have a bus route at 128 Avenue and 232 Street. We have two schools within walking distance – Yennadon  and Harry Hooge elementary schools.

Why these properties were not better utilized before Silver Valley was built boggles the mind.

The taxpayers are ultimately on the hook for servicing and upkeep of Silver Valley.

I have also noticed the signs that surround the lands mentioned 128 Ave. to 228 Street, that state; “Say no to industrial zoning.”

The district paid Rollo associates to do another assessment on future industrial lands  in Maple Ridge, since those at 256 Street are no were near a bridge that we can pay tolls for.

Yet taxpayers pay tolls and commute past vast, empty, unfarmed so-called agricultural land to their jobs outside Maple Ridge.

Council shall not be dictated to by the ALR.

Council is voted in by the local taxpayer and is mandated to adhere to what is best for the taxpayer.

I say no to industrial zoning were I live and yes to rezoning such land industrial near the Golden Ears Bridge.
