Luckily, public is smart enough

Liberals using loaded language to spin their version of the truth

Re: Trustees see $10 million shortfall The News, Feb. 19)

Tom Fletcher’s column and MLA Marc Dalton’s comments in the Feb. 19 edition of the paper once again demonstrate the Liberal strategy of attempting to use deceitful tactics to try and distract the public from gross Liberal mismanagement.

The language used by these two gentlemen would in fact be fit for a late night sketch comedy if the reality weren’t so tragic to the students of this province.

By using inflammatory words like “political propaganda,” “indoctrinated,” “strong-arming,” “conspired,” “war-weary,” and “conspiracy theory” to try and discredit teachers and their actions  – and by using phrases like, “ ... returning the class size language will cost $1 billion, the province is not in a position to pay, the Learning Improvement Fund is $250 million, and the Liberals philosophical belief that class sizes shouldn’t be at the bargaining table” – to inaccurately spin Justice Griffin’s court ruling demonstrates the Liberals continued use of misdirection and rhetoric to score political points without basis in fact.

Fortunately, the majority of the public is smart enough to look beyond these feeble attempts at swaying their beliefs and see the truth.

In fact, some folks might reread many of those words and think that Mr. Fletcher was actually speaking about the Liberal party itself.

Justice Griffin did.
