Recall last recourse to end deceitful politics

Editor, The News:

Re:  Recall descends into ugly farce (B.C. Views, Jan. 19).

Thank you, Tom Fletcher, for showing your true colours.

It’s painfully obvious that you support the dubious and conniving tactics used by the Liberal Party to impose the HST on the people of B.C.

We (and I mean the entire province) did not vote these MLAs into office on the premise that they would bring in the HST, yet that is exactly what promptly happened after the election.

The recall process is the last recourse for the people of B.C., if we want an end to deceitful politics and dishonest representation in the Legislature.

If these recall campaigns fail, we will be subjected to a whole new (lower) level of lies and deception to help further benefit the rich.

Gordon Campbell’s pledge to honour the outcome of the referendum is no longer valid (if it ever was believable) and it’s doubtful that any of the other MLAs (who voted for the HST in the first place) will vote it down if it came down to it.

We, the people, were lied to and told that this was not even being negotiated (when in fact it was), and when the people overwhelmingly showed their distaste, all we got was misinformation and promises about how we will all benefit from the HST.

Just because the rich and privileged say the HST is great, doesn’t make it so.

It’s been more than six months since the inception of the HST, and still, all I see is expense and lack of disposable income.

Where are these benefits?

Show me the money.
