2003 Jr. Flames win March Madness title in shootout

The 2003 Jr. Flames won the spring tiering tournament at Langley Sportsplex.

The 2003 Ridge Meadows Junior Flames captured the March Madness tournament championship at  Langley Sportsplex on Tuesday with a shootout win over the 2003 Young Guns.

Down a goal midway through the second period, the Flames scored to tie  then game, then less then two minutes later scored again to go up by one. However, the Young Guns pulled even halfway through the third, forcing overtime.

Neither time scored in the extra frame, so the game went to a shootout. The Flames scored twice and stopped two of three shots to defeat the Young Guns.

The Jr. Flames went 5-0 to win the spring hockey tiering tournament.

Evan Paul and Jayden Prickette provided stellar goaltending throughout the tournament.

Andrew Thompson, Jack Wingrove, Cameron Nikaniuk, Ethan Quinn, Nathan Boatter and Adrian Truong were strong on defense.

Offensively, the Flames were led by Adam Jones, Dylan Smail, Rylan Thompson, Jack Foster, Braiden Ballati, Oliver Nagy, Davis Murray, Jackson Barichello, Campbell Currie, Jordan Bradford and Griffin Smith.
