The seventh annual Eagle Classic Track and Field Meet returns to Maple Ridge secondary this Saturday.
The annual event is organized by Golden Ears Athletics and will include events in sprints, distance, jumps, and throws, with a few events being offered for adult competitors. The historic mile will again be the feature distance race.
With many high school track and field programs on hiatus due to ongoing teacher job action, the local meet will be the only opportunity for many local youngsters to compete in a tournament this season, says organizer Alana Wadhwani.
The meet features events for athletes as young as nine years old, right up to adults for the All Comers Mile Race.
The meet is scheduled to run from 9 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. this Saturday, May 12.
