Terry Gregory’s rink captured sole possession of first-place in the final game of Haney Master’s League play Wednesday.

Along with Max Albrechtsen (third), Walter Vesa (second) and Earl King (lead), Gregory ensured his place atop the standings with an easy 8-2 win over Bill Gardner.

Gregory’s rink put together a solid performance throughout league play this session only losing once in their last eight games and finishing with an 8-1-1 record for a three-point lead over second-place finishers Jack Stadel and Wayne Chin.

The Stadel rink, leaders most of the season, faltered with two consecutive losses - in part due to Stadel being absent - as he was representing Haney in the Pacific Coast Master’s Championships in Cloverdale this week.

Stadel was part of the Angelo Masaro rink which was eliminated from the over-70 competition after struggling to a 2-2 record. Lorne Fletcher’s rink, consisting of Hilly Boonstra (third), Greg Hook (second) and Chris Martin (lead), also competed in the Master’s Championships losing both games in the over-60 category.

The Haney Masters League now begins play-offs to determine the Spring Champions.
