Hurricanes take district softball title

The Ridge Meadows Hurricanes went 5-0 to take the mite girls’ district softball championship last weekend in Port Moody.

The Hurricanes were seeded in second-place coming out of the round robin portion of the tourney, and faced their association rivals, the Ridge Meadows Mustangs in their first playoff test. After beating the Mustangs, the Hurricanes faced the Coquitlam Red Devils in the final. The Hurricanes took a 2-0 lead after the first inning thanks to a solo homerun by Harmoy Disiewich. The Hurricanes stretched their lead to 6-1 after three innings, but Coquitlam pushed back to draw within one run in the fourth.
