The Maple Ridge Burrards can eliminate the Burnaby Lakers on Saturday night on their home floor at Planet Ice.
That game will go at 7:45 p.m., the sixth in a best-of-seven Western Lacrosse Association playoff series that the Burrards lead 3-2.
On Thursday night the Maple Ridge won game five in Burnaby by a 10-7 score.
The Burrards got their injured star Curtis "Superman" Dickson back in time for Thursday's game, but he was comparatively quiet, with just two assists.
It was sophomore Ben McIntosh who did most of the damage. The big sniper who the Burrards took first overall two seasons ago had maybe his biggest game in the WLA, with four goals and five points in a huge win. He was chosen as the game's first star.
Pitt Meadows' own Mike Mallory also piled on, with three goals and four points, while regular season scoring leader Riley Loewen scored once and had six points.
Ridge enjoyed a big edge in power plays, going five-for-nine with the man advantage, and at one point were up 10-4. Burnaby's power play went one-for-five.
Last Saturday the arena was packed, and coach Chris Gill hopes that is the case again for the Aug. 16 game. He called the atmosphere last weekend "unbelievable."
He said the team is playing a brand of hard-nosed lacrosse that local sports fans appreciate.
"Everyone likes to play in front of home fans, when it's electric in the building," said Gill.
The Victoria Shamrocks swept the New Westminster Salmonbellies in four straight, and await the winner of the Burrards/Lakers series.
