Maple Ridge’s Keanna Mason finished second overall at the Maple Leaf Junior Golf Tour’s Prodigy One-Day Series at Pagoda Ridge Golf Club in Langley on Oct. 6, as she fired a single round of 78 on the 18-hole par 72 course.
Mason’s round put her two strokes off the lead, behind 13-year-old winner Ashley Cai of Vancouver.
Mason, 16, won MJT’s previous One-Day Series at Pitt Meadows Golf Club last month.
Maple Ridge’s James Baker and Ryan Hunt of Pitt Meadows both competed in the Boys’ 17 to 19 Division, finishing in the top 10.
Baker, 18, had a round of 82 to finish seventh, while 17-year-old Hunt fired an 83 to finish tied for eighth.
Victor Baptiste, 17, of Oliver and Austin Hughes, 17, of Delta, shared the top spot shooting in the division, both shooting round of 75. Roy Kang of North Vancouver had the low score in the Boys’ U-14 Division with a 69, while Ian Kim won the Boys’ 14 to 16 Division with a round of 73.
Kwon tops in Canada
Pitt Meadows’ Kevin Kwon is the top player in the country on Golf Canada’s CN Future Links National Junior Boys Order of Merit. After seven events this golf season, Kwon has amassed 3,215.00 points.
While Kwon failed to win a single order of merit event this year, he finished second twice, and had two third-place finishes as well. Kwon was a consistent competitor this season, with his lowest placing coming at the Canadian Men’s Amateur Championship in August, where he finished tied for 14th.
