For the first time, the Ridge Meadows Girls Minor Lacrosse Association is hosting the 2014 provincial championships, from July 9-13.

Top teams from each division – pee wee through to junior – will be competing at Pitt Meadows Arenas and Planet Ice in Maple Ridge.

“I would like to congratulate Wes Eaton and the rest of the female provincials committee in putting together a very memorable lacrosse event for our extraordinary female player group in Ridge Meadows and the entire province,” said Ron Williams, president of Ridge Meadows Minor Lacrosse.

Girls from around the province, ages eight to 17, will compete. It is a fast-growing area of the sport, as registration for female box lacrosse has increased from 128 in 1999 to 913 registrations in 2013.
