The Ridge Meadows Twins senior men’s baseball club is hosting the Twin Cities Invitational at Larry Walker Field this week.

The tournament features both Lower Mainland Baseball Association teams – the Twins and the Maple Ridge Jerks – as well as the Ridge Meadows Royals junior men’s team.

The local teams will also host teams from Richmond, Langley, Aldergrove, Gibsons, and Howe Sound.

The feature event of the tournament will be the Saturday night home run derby, featuring 16 ex-college and -professional sluggers, including former Toronto Blue Jay and Canadian Olympian Simon Pond, who is now playing with Howe Sound. There will be a beer garden and barbecue area set up for the entire event, as well.

Play begins Wednesday and continues through the long weekend.
