Maple Ridge secondary wrestling team hosts awards night

Maple Ridge secondary wrestlers won accolades at their 29th annual awards banquet.

The most outstanding female wrestler was Miki Rowbottom, most outstanding male wrestler was Ryan Hicks, most improved Lukas Kolobara and rookies of the year Ivy Threatful and Adrian Truong.

Special recognition went to Ethan Parkinson who was recently named to the Team BC wrestling squad which will be competing this summer in Toronto at the North American Indiginous Games.

Int. Burrards 3-0

The Ridge Meadows Burrards intermediate team is off to a fast start in a new season in the B.C. Intermediate Lacrosse League, and are atop the standings with a 3-0 record.

On Sunday the Burrards beat Langley 10-6.

Their upcoming games are on the road, and their next home game is May 19, at 8:30 p.m. when they will be back at Planet Ice against New Westminster.

Badminton champs

The Maple Ridge Ramblers junior badminton team members placed first or second in every event at the Maple Ridge district finals

Medal winners included:

• Boys singles: Gabriel Lee first and Anvith Thudi second;

• Girls singles: Clara Yu first and Pei-Tzu Wang second;

• Boys doubles: Gabriel Lee and Anvith Thudi first, Jonathan Maiseyea and Mythias Castres second;

• Girls doubles: Pei-Tzu Wang and Clara Yu first, Sara Kuo and Katrina Ratner second; • Mixed doubles: Jonathan Maiseyeu and Alice Huang first, Kiefer Wang and Katrina Wang second.
