Rinks grab top spots

Three rinks secured top spots in league playoff action as Haney Masters’ concluded the winter season at Golden Ears Curling Club.

Steve Senko’s rink took the A Division, Greg Hook emerged victorious in B and Roger Fast’s foursome won C in final playoff action.

Along with Bruce Nelson, Mike Cavanaugh and Bruce Festing, Senko continued his hot hand after finishing third in league play to overcome league champion Terry Gregory in the playoff round.

Hook, with third Bill Hanula, second Don Svelander and lead Terry Zacher secured the first spot in B by defeating Angelo Masaro.

Masaro’s rink of Wayne Leech, Reg Nelligan and Jim Stone pushed Hook but fell just short, losing 6-5.

With Dave Christensen throwing skip stones, and along with Bob Cocking and Bob Goos providing superb setup rocks, the Fast rink clinched “C” Division with a hard-earned win over Bill Gardiner.
