The City of Maple ridge is once again offering $500 for community projects through its Neighbourhood Small Grants program.

“Small projects, big impact” is the tag line for the annual program, which has included groups who created care packages, hosted block parties and a “Santa for Seniors” initiative. There were plenty of virtual and in-person gatherings in 2021, craft and sewing workshops, block parties and more.

The program is a partnership between the Vancouver Foundation and the City of Maple Ridge, and is intended to connect neighbours and build community.

The city said in 2022 it will continue the program with an emphasis on COVID-19 safety. Residents are encouraged to create projects that uplift the spirits and ease the impacts of the pandemic by helping neighbours strengthen connections. All public health orders around gatherings will be observed.

Only Maple Ridge residents will be eligible to apply. Applications will open on March 1, and people can apply by visiting mapleridge.ca For information email culture@mapleridge.ca or call 604-467-7459.
