Owners of a Maple Ridge roofing company has donated thousands to the Ridge Meadows Hospital Foundation.

The Rai family, owners of H&I Roofing, donated $10,000 at the end of December.

This is not the first large donation made by Gurjit and Navdeep Rai. In February, 2021, they again donated $10,000 to the hospital foundation.

“We are extremely grateful to receive a donation from them every year – they have been our Partners in Health Care since 2004, donating a total of over $150,000,” read a statement on the hospital foundation’s website.

The money will be going towards funding a portable ultrasound for the Chronic Pain Clinic at Ridge Meadows Wellness and Urgent Primary Care Centre.

According to the foundation’s website, chronic pain has been linked to disability, higher rates of anxiety and depression, dependence on opioids, and reduced quality of life overall. A portable ultrasound machine will allow ultrasounds to be taken at the point of care, increasing the efficiency of diagnosis and treatment.

“Physicians supporting urgent care and chronic pain programs have identified this as a critical need, as it allows them to assess and provide long-term management of chronic pain conditions to patients without subjecting them to long wait times,” said the foundation.

Around 1,080 patients per year are expected to benefit from the portable ultrasound.
