PHOTOS: Pitt Meadows welcomes thousands for parade and family fun

82nd annual Pitt Meadows Day saw lots of sun and smiles

The 82nd annual Pitt Meadows Day celebration offered plenty of food, entertainment, and games as thousands flocked to the city on Saturday.

After a lengthy parade that left many people drenched from the beloved water fight with the Pitt Meadows firefighters, the dignitaries gathered on stage at Harris Road Park for the speeches.

Pitt Meadows Mayor Nicole MacDonald welcomed everyone to the event and said she was excited by the sheer diversity of community members that had come out to participate in the celebration.

“Pitt Meadows Day is a showcase of our shared values, traditions, and accomplishments,” said MacDonald. “It’s truly a time to be Pitt Meadows proud.”

Janis Sugimoto, Pitt Meadows Day advisory committee member, then introduced Kaydence McCaw as the first-ever Pitt Meadows youth ambassador.

“These young people represent the future of our community, and looking around, I could not be more proud,” said Sugimoto.

McCaw was presented with the official medallion, marking her as the first youth ambassador in the city’s history.

“I’ve dreamed of being Miss Pitt Meadows since I was four years old and saw my neighbour Audrey Dougan ride the float in 2016 as Miss Pitt Meadows,” said McCaw.

“I’m truly Pitt Meadows proud to step into this new role and represent the youth of Pitt Meadows as your ambassador in the year to come.”
