The Chamber of Commerce Serving Maple Ridge and Pitt Meadows has a new name – the Ridge Meadows Chamber of Commerce.

Not only that, the chamber has a new logo, new colours, and a new place to call home with a new blue fish named Haney, their new ambassador, in a new tank.

An open house was held on Monday, May 29, with a ribbon cutting and cake, to open the new space on the fifth floor of the Maple Ridge Business Centre.

Jerry Kok president of the Ridge Meadows Chamber of Commerce is excited about the new direction the Chamber of Commerce is taking.

The rebrand and move have happened all within the past six months.

“I really feel there’s a new vision for the chamber and that’s what we’re working towards and I’m really excited about it,” he said.

The new logo has a lot more colour than the previous logo, said Kok, and it looks more modern. And, he said, it embodies both the cities of Maple Ridge and Pitt Meadows incorporating both the Golden Ears Bridge and surrounding mountains.

“The chamber felt it was important to be more central in town,” said Kok of the new location. “We are also close to city hall which city hall plays an important factor of the chamber being involved in the business community and having the ability to check in with city hall or city staff about certain situations that might occur,” he said.

Kok noted that the new space creates an environment of a professional office that is easily accessible, and is something that the chamber can be proud of.

And, the view from the office, what Kok enjoys most, looks southwest over Memorial Peace Park and north to the mountains. A view that brings a smile to your face, said Kok.

“The goal of the chamber is that as we’ve sort of gone through his rebrand, we have a new executive director, we’re really growing the chamber and wanted to gain its prestige that everybody sort of thinks about when they think of the chamber of commerce, and we want to get back there. So that’s what we’re working towards,” he said.

Executive director Kristi Maier, who designed the new logo, said they were looking for a space that was empowering and motivational for their board to get together.

A space that was bright and vibrant and a space they could all call home.

And she thinks they did a pretty good job.
